Nuclear Gauge Safety and HAZMAT Transportation Training classes are offered at all
locations. Nuclear Gauge Safety Training begins at 8:30 am. HAZMAT training begins at
1:00 pm. Instruction for both courses concludes after the HAZMAT presentation. See

Payment and Reservation Policy:
Unused prepaid registrations will be converted into a credit (for the original dollar value) toward
another class, good for one year. Seats are not reserved until payment is received. Please enroll at
least 5 days in advance. Alara Technologies, Inc. reserves the right to cancel classes if there is
insufficient enrollment. Registrants receive a full refund in the event of a class cancellation.
Each attendee must pass a test in order to receive a certificate of completion. The minimum passing
score is 70%.

Nuclear Gauge Safety Training $159
This one day course is structured to satisfy the educational requirements of the NRC and
Agreement States in which we offer classes. It also satisfies 49 CFR 172 Subpart H (US DOT
HAZMAT Transportation Training). The course covers basic radiation physics, safety principles,
ALARA, and how to safely operate, transport and store a portable nuclear gauge. Students
must pass an examination at the end of the class in order to be certified.
HAZMAT Transportation Recurrent Training $79
This course satisfies the training requirements outlined in 49 CFR 172 Subpart H (US DOT
HAZMAT Transportation Training Requirements) for general awareness of HAZMAT
transportation regulations, function-specific training, safety and security awareness. It is
offered as the second half of the Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Course. This course is
appropriate for employees who prepare shipping papers for nuclear gauges as well as those
who operate nuclear gauges. This training is required at least once every three years (two
years if gauges are shipped by air). Students must pass an examination at the end of the class
in order to be certified.

We establish a training record for attendees. If a question arises regarding training, we will
search our records to determine attendance dates, test scores and the training materials used.
The employer is ultimately responsible for maintaining adequate training records for their
employees. Duplicate certificates are available for a $25 fee. Request a duplicate certificate
